In You Can See Everything, Amanda Seyfried complimented Elizabeth Holmes on the “beautiful family” she has built with Billy Evans—then revealed she had an altogether different reaction to the couple’s relationship.
After viewing an edited cut of the documentary, Seyfried told co-director Nathan Fielder that she wanted to “break them up,” a candid moment that appears in the film.
Directed by Fielder and Lance Oppenheim, the documentary follows Holmes, Evans and their two children in the weeks leading up to Holmes’ 11-year federal prison sentence for defrauding investors in her former health technology company. It also explores the family’s life in Texas while Holmes remains incarcerated.
Seyfried, who won an Emmy for portraying Holmes in Hulu’s 2022 miniseries The Dropout, takes on multiple roles in the project. She reenacts comments Holmes made from prison and visits Evans at his California home, where she meets the couple’s two young children.
At one point, the actress joins a prison call between Holmes and Evans before apologizing for interrupting their limited time together.
“I’m so sorry,” Seyfried tells Holmes during the call, according to the Los Angeles Times. “I don’t want to ruin your two minutes with your beautiful family.”

Her time with Evans reportedly became more strained. The Times said Seyfried eventually described him as “Bats–tcrazy.”
The pair clashed over Evans’ use of Holmes’ verified X account in his role as her power of attorney, the Times reported. Evans told Vanity Fair that Holmes writes “80%” of the posts, while also declaring, “I can literally do anything.”
Evans also criticized Seyfried’s portrayal of Holmes in The Dropout and said he intended to retaliate against people he believed had mistreated his wife, according to the Times.
“I’m going to ruin their lives,” Evans says in the documentary, according to the Times. “F—ing everyone. I’ve got vengeance in my heart.”
Representatives for Seyfried and Evans did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
