A three-year-old girl was filmed dangling from a 12th-floor apartment in a terrifying incident that left residents scrambling to save her.
The dramatic video shows the child clinging to the exterior of a building in Zhangping City, China, while a neighbour and a security guard race to pull her to safety.
The two men lean dangerously out of a window below, holding a small white stool beneath the girl in an attempt to support her.
The child was reportedly alone at home while her mother was out buying groceries, according to the South China Morning Post.
The girl is understood to have squeezed through the window before her head became lodged in a metal safety grille. Her body was left hanging over the edge of the high-rise building.
The incident happened at about 7.48am on Saturday. Residents told The Beijing News that they rushed to help after images of the child’s dangerous predicament were circulated in a group chat.
Firefighters later broke through the apartment door and rescued the girl. She escaped without injury but was taken to hospital for a precautionary examination.
The child’s father, who was at work when the incident unfolded, thanked the neighbours and property management staff for their heroic response.
