Mysterious black triangles spotted over secret US military bases, latest UFO file dump reveals

WASHINGTON — Newly declassified government records say unidentified black, triangle-shaped objects were seen above restricted U.S. military facilities on at least three occasions over the past year, traveling at speeds of up to 1,800 miles per hour without leaving vapor trails.

The encounters prompted national security questions, while the documents do not establish whether the objects belonged to a foreign government or represented something else. The heavily redacted files concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena were released Friday by the Trump administration.

Officials appeared especially concerned by both the objects’ unusual capabilities and their reported presence above highly classified locations used to test emerging American technology. Specific dates and sites were withheld for security purposes.

The government released sketches depicting a dark triangular craft against a mountainous backdrop, but no photographs accompanied the files.

According to an FBI report, observers said the objects covered roughly 1.5 miles in just three seconds—a rate equivalent to about 1,800 miles per hour.

The silent objects displayed no visible exhaust or vapor. Thermal scans showed an even heat signature across their surfaces, unlike conventional aircraft or drones, which typically produce stronger readings around concentrated heat sources such as engines.

The files described the movement as “with speed the observers described to be as fast as a fighter jet.” The records were published through the Trump administration’s Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters initiative.

A Department of War memorandum describing another incident said the object had a “continuous (seamless), featureless surface” with no visible seams, propulsion openings, air intakes, aerodynamic control surfaces or cockpit.

The memo said the two main witnesses experienced no physical effects. They reported no disorientation, nausea, headaches, memory loss or other unusual sensory symptoms.

Officials concluded that the objects were not part of the U.S. arsenal. At the same time, the documents expressed doubt that they were foreign aircraft, noting that no known nation is believed to possess technology matching what witnesses described.

Friday’s publication was the seventh batch of UAP-related records released to the public. Government officials told a small group of reporters Thursday that additional files are expected.

The disclosures are part of President Trump’s promise to increase government transparency. Earlier releases detailed other UFO reports, but none has so far provided conclusive evidence of extraterrestrial life.

The latest collection covers more than unexplained objects in the sky. It also includes records connected to the History Channel reality series Skinwalker Ranch.

The 512-acre property in Utah has become widely known as a reported center of UFO activity, animal mutilations and other alleged paranormal events.

The records show that government personnel obtained hair samples from the ranch in 2010. A rancher had claimed that a skinwalker appeared on the property and was pursued by dogs before passing through a barbed-wire fence. Investigators recovered the hair from the wire and submitted it for DNA testing.

Witnesses and others at the site reported seeing a “black shadowy figure.” Additional accounts described doglike beings running upright, strange animal cries, small humanlike figures, prehistoric-looking birds and a maggot said to have measured approximately 8 feet in length.

In Navajo culture, a skinwalker is regarded as a dangerous and malicious witch capable of taking an animal form.

By May 2010, investigators had spoken with at least 25 people, including Native Americans from the area, police officers, ranchers, members of the Mormon church and the director of the local Fish and Wildlife Service. The files say each described a firsthand encounter involving a skinwalker.

The newly released material also reviews unexplained sightings near California’s Catalina Island and includes a NASA document from the 1960s outlining recommended steps for people who encounter debris from space.
