Attempting to stop the fight: Beyoncé reportedly shouted at Diddy and the other partygoer after the music mogul confronted a guest who was said to be dancing too close to him
Too close for comfort: Diddy reportedly lost his temper at the VMAs after-party after a guest danced near him and his girlfriend, Cassie
Before the drama: Cassie enjoyed the celebration with her own monogrammed ice bucket before the reported altercation began
“It was mayhem. Beyoncé was yelling for everyone to stop, while Jay Z separated people and moved them away from Bey,” a guest told the New York Daily News.
Rapper J. Cole was allegedly flirting with Diddy’s girlfriend, a claim that reportedly triggered the confrontation at the star-studded party
“We were all dancing when the fight broke out. It happened so quickly—bottles were crashing, people were screaming and guests were pushed into bottles,” another partygoer said.
Another guest told the New York Post that “J. Cole was saying inappropriate things to Sean Combs and his girlfriend, Cassie.
“Sean immediately pounced. There was some pushing and shoving, but no punches were thrown. It was still a very visible disturbance.
“Several bottles spilled onto the floor, and some partygoers were knocked over.”
The event was sponsored by Diddy’s Ciroc drinks brand, and the reported 3 a.m. disturbance came after guests had consumed multiple bottles of the liquor.
Diddy soon put the incident behind him, returning to the decks to welcome guests to the VMA celebration and wish Cassie a happy birthday.
Taking to the club microphone, he reassured the crowd: “It’s all cool! Y’all keep having fun! It’s no big deal—it’s over.”
Neither Beyoncé nor Jay Z attended the awards ceremony at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Instead, the couple headed to the PH-D Rooftop afterward, ready to continue the night.
Diddy was also photographed at the party with rapper Macklemore
The couple were seen arriving at the Dream Downtown Hotel in lower Manhattan after the VMAs concluded across the Hudson River.
Beyoncé highlighted her figure in a black dress featuring sheer circular panels, pairing the look with vertiginous heels. She wore her shorter hair in soft blonde curls.
The couple joined a host of entertainment-industry friends at the party, including Rihanna, Rita Ora and Justin Timberlake.
Friends: Beyonce tried to calm the situation down as Diddy and a party guest shoved each other
And despite the fracas, Beyonce was seen leaving in good spirits.
Representatives for Diddy and J.Cole have yet to respond to requests for comment. However, the rapper attempted to address the issue on twitter. He tweeted on Tuesday: 'I usually don't address rumors but I got too much respect for my bro @JColeNC.
'We are friends The rumors are not true. We had a great party.'
