Charli XCX sells clothes from her archive on Vinted for charity

Throughout her Music, Fashion, Film tour, Charli XCX has put the spotlight on pre-loved fashion, working with her stylist to source distinctive second-hand pieces.

Now, the singer is taking that commitment a step further by opening her own wardrobe on Vinted, where she will sell tour outfits, personal archive pieces and other second-hand finds.

All proceeds from Charli XCX’s sales will go to Rainbow Railroad, a charity that supports LGBTQI+ people facing persecution.

The collection will feature outfits worn on tour, second-hand items sourced by Chris and pieces from Charli’s personal archive, including an R&M Leathers jacket and a selection of vintage T-shirts.

Charli and Chris will also continue searching Vinted for their next fashion finds. Fans can add #charlixcx to their listings for a chance to catch the pair’s attention.

A curated selection of items will go on sale through Vinted from Monday, November 16, with shoppers in the UK, US and Australia able to take part.

From reworking her wedding dress for the Rock Music music video to wearing the Valentino dress previously seen in Good Ones, Charli has long championed the idea of giving clothes a second life.

Speaking about her passion for pre-loved fashion, she said: ‘Vintage and second-hand are a huge part of my style.

‘Chris and I love mixing older, iconic pieces with newer things. I think it makes a look feel more personal to me and always takes us to a more unexpected place.’

For the Music, Fashion, Film tour, Charli and her longtime stylist Chris Horan brought the same approach to Vinted, searching for an eclectic blend of pre-loved and designer clothing with terms such as distressed, gothic and flounce.

Their finds included an early-2000s Christian Audigier piece transformed into a dress for Austin City Limits, a sheer grey blouse worn in San Diego, and a black Roberto Cavalli dress worn to the Academy Gala after-party and the tour’s final show in Las Vegas.

Every item came with its own story.

The sheer blouse worn in San Diego had been listed by a Vinted seller in New York City, who said passing on her clothes had become second nature: ‘Once I have my moment wearing something, I like to pass it on because ya never know who’s gonna wear it next… maybe a pop star.’

The Cavalli dress came from a Vinted seller who was in the audience at Charli’s Los Angeles show and saw photographs from the after-party that same evening. ‘She looked amazing, and it fit her perfectly,’ the seller said.

One discovery has yet to appear on stage: a floor-length Donna Karan dress featuring an appliqué bird motif. It was originally given to the seller by her future mother-in-law, a former personal shopper at Saks.

‘Some were found on Vinted in the first place, worn on stage, and are now going back out into the world. Which feels like a full circle,’ Charli said.

Accompanying the partnership is a new glimpse behind the scenes featuring Charli and Chris going through their Vinted finds, experimenting with looks and revisiting some of Charli’s most iconic fashion moments.

The video will premiere on Charli’s social media channels on November 8th, ahead of the wardrobe sale on November 16th.
