Nvidia boss admits to cheating on wife in Chinese spy scandal

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has acknowledged being unfaithful to his wife as the trillion-dollar chipmaker investigates whether the relationship exposed the company to a foreign-espionage threat involving a suspected Chinese intelligence operative.

In a memo sent to employees Sunday, Huang, 63, wrote: “I was unfaithful to my wife. My actions hurt her and our children. There is no excuse for what I did,” The New York Times reported.

The relationship became a US national-security concern after surveillance footage and intelligence reportedly indicated that the woman, Alice Huang, had been passing information to Beijing, according to a previously disclosed US intelligence memo.

While Huang has admitted to the affair, he has not acknowledged that Alice Huang was a spy.

Huang and his wife of 41 years, Lori Mills Huang, have two adult children, Madison and Spencer.

Nvidia’s board said it had “no reason to believe that either national security or Nvidia secrets were compromised” through the relationship. Nevertheless, the board said it would “examine all available information,” according to the report.

The CEO supports the investigation and has pledged to cooperate fully, the board added.

The disclosure has drawn immediate scrutiny because of Huang’s close ties to President Donald Trump and his central role in the development of artificial-intelligence technology.

An earlier New York Times report said Secretary of State Marco Rubio was aware of Huang’s relationship but nevertheless allowed him to remain within Trump’s inner circle.

The newspaper reported that Rubio oversaw the preparation of a highly classified memo during the spring warning senior Trump officials about Huang’s close association with the suspected spy.

The memo was reportedly based on classified electronic surveillance involving Alice.

She was a senior executive at Megaspeed International, a Singapore-based company that purchased Nvidia’s most advanced AI chips. The company was also under investigation over allegations that the chips were being illegally smuggled into China, the report said.

A person familiar with the matter told The New York Times that Rubio alerted other Trump officials before the president traveled to China in May.

The allegations that Alice was a Chinese spy became public on October 29, 2026.

Huang was initially excluded from a delegation of prominent business leaders and technology executives invited to accompany Trump to China around six months ago. The newspaper said it remained unclear whether Rubio’s memo influenced that decision.

After Rubio shared the intelligence with senior officials, some expressed concern about Huang’s influence over Trump’s approach to relatively light-touch regulation of artificial intelligence, people briefed on the issue told the newspaper.

However, after media reports highlighted Huang’s absence from the delegation, Trump reportedly invited him to join the trip during a meeting aboard Air Force One while the plane stopped in Alaska.

Trump later praised “the Great Jensen Huang” and others on social media as they traveled to “the Great Country of China” for talks with President Xi Jinping.

Since that trip, Huang has appeared alongside Trump on several occasions.

Before acknowledging the affair, Huang denied having anything more than a “normal” relationship with Alice, Bloomberg reported.

In his memo to Nvidia employees, Huang emphasized his commitment to the United States and the company.

“I love our country and our company, and I am committed to protecting Nvidia and supporting America’s national security,” he wrote.
