The search continues for a suspect involved in a tragic mass shooting in Stockton, California, which claimed the lives of four individuals over the weekend, three of whom were children. Authorities believe multiple shooters were involved in the incident.

In response, the FBI has announced a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the apprehension of a suspect. The victims, aged 8, 9, 14, and 21, were attending a 2-year-old’s birthday celebration. Witnesses recounted that the group was gathered around the cake when the sound of gunfire erupted.

“As we were about to cut the cake, everyone was gathering around, and suddenly, there were gunshots. We all hit the ground immediately. It was completely unexpected. I’m at a loss for words and in shock,” expressed Patrice Williams, who had organized the birthday party for her daughter.

Fighting back tears, she added, “I just want to apologize to all the mothers who lost their children at my daughter’s birthday party.”

The shooting left eleven others injured, besides the four who lost their lives. Among those hurt were Williams’ sister, a cousin, and three friends, adding to the heartbreaking toll of the incident.

Sheriff Patrick Withrow of the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to the press on Monday that there “appears to be multiple shooters,” but authorities have not publicly identified any suspects.

“They deserve to be in jail. They deserve to go to hell,” Williams said. “I’m sorry, but I just … it’s not respectable. It’s a kids’ party.”

Authorities said tips, video and witness accounts from the community are helping detectives move toward identifying and locating the individuals responsible for what the sheriff’s office called a “horrific act.”
