BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty’s husband hit by a car while cycling

BBC Breakfast host Naga Munchetty has told how she is ‘terrified’ of cycling on the roads after her husband James Haggar got knocked over by a car last week.

The news anchor spoke openly about the incident with her colleague Louise Minchin and BBC Triathlon presenter Annie Emmerson, who invited Naga to speak on their Her Spirit podcast.

The 45-year-old recalled the moment her husband was left ‘battered and bruised’ following the accident which happened last week.

‘My husband got hit by a car last week while cycling,’ she told the hosts.

‘Is he alright?’ they asked with concern.

‘He’s battered and bruised, but he’s okay,’ Naga continued.

‘So I’m petrified of cycling on the roads, absolutely petrified, I’m scared of traffic.

‘I think everyone’s an idiot either who’s on a bike or in a car because they don’t have road sense.’

Before Naga opened up about the accident she recalled the time she cycled from London to Paris.

She said: ‘I did London to Paris and then I did Ride London and then I did Bedford to Amsterdam.

‘I did loads, I got a Wattbike because I don’t like cycling on the roads.’
