John Paul Miller has entered a plea of not guilty to charges of cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. He has chosen to waive his right to a speedy trial, a decision that is not uncommon in federal cases.

Prosecutors have raised concerns about Miller being a flight risk. They have pointed to the discovery of a large safe, silver pieces, and a collection of valuable baseball cards in his home as potential means for him to finance an escape. Additionally, Miller’s access to a private plane further fuels these concerns. Taking these factors into account, the judge has agreed with U.S. attorneys and set Miller’s bond at $100,000. Moreover, Miller is required to surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor to ensure compliance.

The charges brought against Miller by a grand jury cover a period from November 16, 2022, to April 27, 2024—the day Mica died. Over these 528 days, Miller is accused of relentlessly harassing Mica.

The first count against him details numerous allegations: Miller allegedly threatened to exploit nude videos and photos of Mica for harassment purposes. He is accused of posting a nude photograph of her online without her consent and placing tracking devices on Mica’s vehicles. Furthermore, Miller purportedly put Mica under surveillance with sinister intentions, including to kill, injure, harass, or intimidate her. The accusations extend to damaging Mica’s vehicle and meddling with her financial affairs.

Miller also allegedly disrupted Mica’s everyday life in various ways. If convicted of cyberstalking, he faces a potential sentence of five years. However, depending on the jury’s findings on the charges, his sentence could extend to between nine and ten years.

If he is found guilty of cyberstalking, his sentence could be five years, it could be between nine and 10 years depending on the charges that the jury decides he’s guilty of.

Lying to police could equal another five to eight years behind that he could receive behind bars. So. he could get almost 20 years behind bars.
