ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman is speaking out after surviving two cars crashing into her home while she was asleep.

“Dealing with the complete loss of my car has brought on a lot of stress and anxiety,” shared Anna Rosenberger from St. Petersburg. “In an instant, I lost my home and most of my possessions.”

According to St. Petersburg police, officers were called to 4600 6th Street South at approximately 2:59 a.m. on July 7, 2025.

According to authorities, Stephanie Lopez, 28, was driving south when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the home.

Lopez was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and is suspected to have been driving under the influence.

Lopez has been charged with DUI property damage, driving while license is suspended, cancelled, or revoked and careless driving.

Rosenberger said before Lopez struck the home, she struck her vehicle first.

“The driver hit my car with such force that it spun around and was pushed backwards all the way into the house,” Rosenberger explained. “Her vehicle flipped over mine and landed upside down behind my car in the living room, which was roughly 20 feet from where I had been sleeping.”

News Channel 8 acquired records from St. Petersburg police showing that in the past four years, there were two additional vehicle incidents at the residence in 2021, one of which also involved driving under the influence.

“I absolutely only know about three incidents, and one of them was just last week,” said Laura Nelson, the owner of the home. “If I’m not home, I don’t know what’s going on there unless somebody tells me.”

News Channel 8 asked Nelson if she made Rosenberger aware of the two incidents prior to her becoming a renter.

“I did not, because I didn’t think it was a big deal and now, clearly, you know, we know that intersections got a history,” Nelson said.

Nelson said after the two incidents in 2021, she had contacted the City of St. Petersburg’s to see what could be done.

“Their resolution was to put a sign in the front yard and clearly that didn’t work because it’s now in the backyard,” she said.

The sign Nelson is referring to is a stop sign which flew over the house during the impact of last week’s incident.

“I’m devastated, you know; nobody wants this to happen,” Nelson said.

Nelson told News Channel 8 she is working with insurance companies to fix the home and has been in contact with Rosenberger, offering her a vehicle to drive along with a place to stay.

Rosenberger said she does not wish to rent from Nelson anymore but hopes transparency can be provided in the future.

“My thought process is signs are not barriers, a stop sign is not a barrier … a yield sign is not a barrier,” Rosenberger said. “I think the best thing that she could do for me and for everybody is one, put up a barrier and make sure that whoever rents from her in the future, that she’s honest and transparent with.”

Rosenberger has created a GoFundMe to recuperate after the incident, which can be found here.

“I am so grateful to be alive [and] I’m very grateful that the driver is alive,” Rosenberger said. “It is a miracle that she survived [because] she landed upside down and her car smashed like a pancake. I don’t know how she survived, but I’m so glad that she’s okay and that, everybody is alive and well.
