With just two weeks left in the college football regular season, teams are in a last-ditch effort to secure their spots for bowl games. While 63 teams have already qualified for postseason play, there are still numerous opportunities for others to make the cut. Here’s how you can keep track of which teams will advance to the postseason as the regular season concludes.
Even though the future of the College Football Playoff remains uncertain, this year’s postseason schedule is set in stone, offering a glimpse of what’s to come.
College Football Bowl Eligibility Criteria:
The 2025 regular season wraps up on November 29, with bowl game announcements slated for December 7. Bowl season kicks off on December 13 and concludes on January 19. The lineup features 35 traditional bowl games, in addition to four College Football Playoff first-round games, four quarterfinals, two semifinals, and one national championship game. In total, there will be 46 matchups, involving 82 FBS teams, after the conference championships.
Teams must secure at least six victories to become bowl eligible, with only one win against FCS opponents counting toward this total. An overflow of bowl-eligible teams means some might miss out on postseason action.
If there aren’t enough bowl-eligible teams, Delaware and Missouri State, transitioning from the FCS, have the first chance to fill the gaps, provided they meet the bowl eligibility requirements. Beyond that, teams with a 5-7 record might still make it based on their Academic Progress Rate scores. This explains why occasionally, teams with fewer wins find themselves in bowl games.

Four teams became bowl eligible after Week 12 of the college football season including Central Michigan, LSU, Toledo and Western Michigan. Here’s the full list of teams that secured at least six victories and are bowl eligible:
