In the quiet community of Beach Park, Illinois, a startling incident has led to the arrest of two individuals suspected of orchestrating a chilling murder-for-hire scheme. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrests following a disturbing early morning shooting.

According to police reports, the victim was shot while warming up his car outside his home on North Sheridan Road. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, leaving the neighborhood in shock. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was rushed to Vista East Medical Center by a family member. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later airlifted to a level one trauma center, where he remains in extremely critical condition.

In the wake of the shooting, sheriff’s detectives promptly examined surveillance footage from the area. Their investigation led them to a vehicle suspected to have been involved in the crime. The trail of evidence pointed investigators to the vehicle’s owner, 28-year-old Cristian N. Ruval-Cavatorres, residing in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.

Authorities in Mount Pleasant were swift to act, conducting a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of Ruval-Cavatorres later that day. Further investigation by the Lake County detectives uncovered compelling evidence suggesting Ruval-Cavatorres had been hired to carry out the shooting. A search warrant executed by detectives revealed a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the attack, along with a phone allegedly used for communications related to the plot.

The arrests mark a significant development in a case that has gripped the Beach Park community, as authorities continue to piece together the motives and connections behind this violent act. The investigation remains active, with law enforcement determined to bring all those involved to justice.

Lake County sheriff’s detectives say they discovered evidence indicating that someone hired Ruval-Cavatorres to shoot and kill the victim. Detectives executed a search warrant and found the gun they believe was used in the shooting and a phone Ruval-Cavatorres allegedly used to talk with the person who hired him.

Ruval-Cavatorres has been charged with Attempted First-Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. He is being held in the Racine County Jail, pending extradition to Lake County.

Sheriff’s detectives found the person who allegedly hired Ruval-Cavatorres in North Chicago on Thursday.

Authorities detained that person, a male of an unknown age, in the 1600-block of Park Avenue around 1:30 p.m. He remains in custody, and charges are pending, the sheriff’s office said.
