A judge denied a request from the state of Illinois for a temporary restraining order to stop Texas National Guard members from coming to Chicago.

A hearing was scheduled for later this week regarding the request, but by then, National Guard troops may already be on the streets.

The Department of Justice said Illinois National Guard troops could report for duty as soon as Tuesday.

Texas troops deployed on Monday, according to a photo shared by Gov. Greg Abbot. However, it’s not clear where they’re headed.

Governor JB Pritzker and local leaders denounced the White House’s plans to federalize 300 Illinois National Guard service members.

Federal officials have announced plans to potentially deploy hundreds of troops from Texas. This move comes in reaction to protests against ICE and incidents of violence involving agents.

The state is seeking in federal courts to block the deployment, arguing the White House is escalating conflict to create a pretext to send in troops.

DOJ attorneys said that after a few days of civil disturbance training, Illinois troops will patrol federal facilities.
