The typical age of real estate professionals within the National Association of Realtors sits at 60, indicating this field is particularly popular among individuals looking to embark on a second or third career. It’s also appealing to parents who prefer flexible work schedules. Intriguingly, even MTV personalities are exploring this path.

Nev Schulman, widely recognized as the host of “Catfish,” has transitioned into the real estate sector at age 40. Schulman, who also hosts a podcast, has joined Coldwell Banker Warburg, marking this new chapter in his professional journey.

According to a press release from the brokerage, Schulman’s experience on “Catfish,” where he assisted individuals in uncovering the identities of their online correspondents, has equipped him with valuable “trust-building and problem-solving skills” essential for navigating the intricate New York real estate landscape.

“Through hosting Catfish, I’ve learned the importance of attentive listening, building trust swiftly, and guiding people through deeply personal decisions,” Schulman explained. “These skills are crucial in New York’s real estate market, where empathy, patience, and clarity are key to finding the ideal property.”

While Schulman is primarily known for his television appearances, including his participation in “Dancing With the Stars” in 2020, he is now focusing on family life as a father of three. This career shift also sees him following his father’s footsteps, Robert Schulman, who has been a leading broker at the same firm for over 15 years.

“After watching my father dedicate more than 50 years to this business, it feels meaningful to follow in his footsteps and join Coldwell Banker Warburg,” Schulman said.

If he ever gets the television itch, though, there are a slew of real estate programs on Netflix and Bravo to choose from. Just ask the Altman brothers or Barbara Corcoran.

The median age of all real estate agents who belong to the National Association of Realtors is 60, making the profession a top choice for entrepreneurs of a certain age who want to start a second (or third) career. It’s also a top choice for working parents who want to set their own hours. And now, even MTV stars want in on the action.

“Catfish” host Nev Schulman, 40, told People this week that he has started a new career in real estate. The television host and podcaster has joined the firm Coldwell Banker Warburg.
