An exciting new series has landed on Amazon Prime Video, earning an impressive 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This is the second season of the animated show “Hazbin Hotel,” and it’s capturing attention even beyond typical animation enthusiasts.
The origins of “Hazbin Hotel” trace back to its YouTube debut in 2019, but it made its Amazon streaming premiere in January 2024. Now, nearly two years later, season two has been released and is receiving rave reviews from critics, marking an initial perfect score.
The show is distinguished by its distinctive animation style and imaginative storyline. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect:
While there’s a lot happening in the series, it’s proven to be a worthwhile watch. The first season received a commendable 78% certified fresh rating from critics and an 86% score from audiences. Even if the current perfect score experiences a slight decline, it’s likely to remain impressive. Audience ratings for the second season are so far consistent with those of the first.
Is “Hazbin Hotel” a niche series? Not at all. Currently, it holds the top spot on Amazon Prime, surpassing the recently concluded “Gen V” and the new release “Harlan Coben’s Lazarus.” It’s even outpacing the hugely popular “Dark Wolf,” which generated significant viewer interest during its debut. With a dedicated fan base eager for more after a two-year hiatus, “Hazbin Hotel” is making waves.
The series doesn’t follow the binge-watching model. Season two kicked off with a double-episode premiere earlier this week and will continue with dual-episode releases every Wednesday, with the next installment scheduled for November 5. Like its predecessor, season two comprises eight episodes, each lasting around 25 minutes. If you haven’t yet experienced the show, you can catch up on the entire first season in under four hours.

So, niche program? No, not at all. Right now, Hazbin Hotel is the #1 series on Amazon Prime, besting the recently wrapped Gen V and beating out new series Harlan Coben’s Lazarus. It’s also above the mega-popular Dark Wolf, which racked up big viewership for its debut season. Hazbin Hotel has a large amount of dedicated fans, and they are ready to dip back in for more after this lengthy two-year wait.
This is not a binge drop. Hazbin Hotel season 2 arrived with a double-episode premiere earlier this week and is going to keep doing double drops every Wednesday, with the next one on November 5. Season 2, like season 1, will be eight episodes long. With 25-minute episodes, you can catch up on season one in less than four hours, if you haven’t seen the show so far.
It’s great to see Hazbin Hotel return to such great scores, and yes, the show will return for seasons 3 and 4, confirmed all the way back in July 2024.
