The transgender issue has so deeply entrenched itself within the Democratic Party that it sometimes seems unbelievable for a group of people to be so misguided. A case in point is former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, who was questioned by a colleague from our affiliated site, Townhall, with a query that most Americans find straightforward: “Why do you support males participating in women’s sports?”
What did Cooper do? He turned tail and fled without a word.

Before the door of his Uber ride closed, the reporter got in one more simple question: “Governor Cooper, are there more than two genders?”
Cooper held office as North Carolina’s governor from 2017 until January 2025. During his tenure, he wielded his veto power in 2023 to try and block legislation from the state’s Republican supermajority in both the House and Senate that sought to prohibit transgender medical procedures on minors, as well as other bills concerning gender in sports and LGBTQ+ education in schools.
Ultimately, the legislators overrode Cooper’s vetoes, allowing those bills to become law.
Readers are probably very familiar with the former governor’s stance supporting abortion, as RedState’s streiff wrote.

Although it was not officially stated during the 2024 presidential election why Cooper, who was on the shortlist, was not picked as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, there were suggestions that he might be contemplating a Senate run in 2026.
Another colleague at Townhall, Katie Pavlich was also a guest on Fox News’ “The Five” on Friday, talking on this very issue. What she said about girls’ and women’s sports is plain common sense:
