Jamie Lee Curtis Says A Press Tour For ‘Halloween Ends’ Sparked The Idea For ‘Freakier Friday’
During an interview about Freakier Friday with People in July, Jamie Lee Curtis said that the idea for the film began in 2022 as she embarked on a press tour to discuss the final film in the Halloween Franchise, Halloween Ends.
“Everybody I’ve ever spoken to has asked, ‘Will there be a Freaky Friday sequel?’” Curtis recalled for People. “When I went all around the world for Halloween Ends in 2022, every stop, they asked. And the answer was ‘Lindsay has to be old enough to have had a teenager.’
“So then obviously Lindsay had this beautiful baby,” Curtis added. “She came and visited me, brought the baby. At this moment we started really seriously talking about it.”
Freakier Friday was a hit in theaters, earning $94.1 million domestically and nearly $59 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $153.1 million. The film had a production budget of $42 million before prints and advertising, according to The Numbers.
Rated PG, Freakier Friday arrives on streaming video on demand on Wednesday on Disney+.
