Lady Gaga’s illustrious career has seen her clinch 14 Grammy Awards out of an impressive 45 nominations. With music’s most prestigious night approaching in early February, Gaga stands poised to expand her trophy cabinet. She is a strong contender for three of the four top awards: Album of the Year for Mayhem and both Record and Song of the Year for “Abracadabra,” along with several other potential accolades.
While already one of her generation’s most decorated stars at the Grammys, Gaga has successfully crossed over into the film industry as well. Her talents have been recognized with four Academy Award nominations, three of which were for Best Original Song. Recently, one of her Oscar-nominated tracks has surged in popularity in the United Kingdom, joining two other hits from her diverse repertoire.
“Hold My Hand” has made a remarkable comeback on UK charts, re-entering as a top seller. The track has catapulted to No. 62 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and similarly reappears at No. 71 on the Official Singles Sales list. This resurgence mirrors its previous successful run, where it peaked at No. 3 and maintained a presence for 49 weeks on both charts.
“Hold My Hand” Becomes a Bestseller in the U.K. Again
The song “Hold My Hand” was crafted for the much-anticipated Top Gun: Maverick, the follow-up to Tom Cruise’s iconic ’80s film. Gaga collaborated with legendary composers Hans Zimmer, Lorne Balfe, and Harold Faltermeyer, contributing significantly to both the score and the soundtrack of the movie.

That year, the honor went to “Naatu Naatu” from the Indian movie RRR, and Gaga was not the only pop icon to land a nomination. “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever brought Rihanna and African superstar Tems to the Oscars for the first time, while David Byrne and Mitski were also in the running for “This Is a Life,” taken from Everything Everywhere All at Once. The fifth and final nominated track that year was “Applause” by Academy favorite Diane Warren.
Before “Hold My Hand,” Gaga had already found herself in the running for Best Original Song twice. The singer and actress landed her first Academy Award nomination in 2016 for “Till It Happens to You,” co-written and produced by Warren. In 2019, Gaga was up for a pair of Oscars, as “Shallow” took home Best Original Song, while Olivia Colman beat the pop star for Best Actress.
“Die With a Smile” Also Returns in the U.K.
Two of Gaga’s smashes return in the U.K. this week. “Die With a Smile,” her collaboration with Bruno Mars, suddenly becomes a top 40 success again on the Official Singles chart, reappearing at No. 28. The same tune lives inside the top 40 on both the Official Streaming and Official Singles Downloads lists, and just misses that tier on the Official Singles Sales roster.
“Always Remember Us This Way” Remains a Bestseller as Well
Gaga fills a trio of spots on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts this week. As “Hold My Hand” returns, “Always Remember Us This Way” from the A Star Is Born soundtrack beats “Die With a Smile” as the two cuts climb.
