Paddy Power has launched a Manchester United nostalgia hotline that is providing a comforting ear to any supporters wanting to relive the glory days at Old Trafford.

The light-hearted idea was sparked after United’s 4-3 defeat against Bayern Munich in their Champions League opener and gives fans a chance to dip out of the ongoing doom and gloom and back into yesteryear when the club were dominating in England and Europe.

Calls are free and give supporters the chance of a host of different options that shine a light on United’s previous successes along with hearing a message from a former player.

Erik ten Hag is coming under pressure with issues on and off the field appearing to destabilise the work he made at the club during his debut year in charge last season.

However, United supporters can escape the current crisis with a call to Paddy Power’s nostalgia hotline on 0800 043 1999. Irish callers ring 1800 33 1999.

Supporters can choose from hearing commentary from iconic Champions League matches including the 1999 final at the Nou Camp, listening to a recorded message from Sharpe, and more cheery moments.

Revealing the new support number for United callers, the betting firm’s spokesperson Rachael Kane gave a tongue-in-cheek rallying call, stating:  ‘We know being a United fan is pretty tough right now – and we just wanted to do something to help.

‘So we channelled our pity into positivity, called (Lee Sharpe) Sharpey and asked him to do us a solid. Like us, he felt compelled to do the right thing.

‘We can’t guarantee that visualising the Sharpey shuffle or triggering fond memories of Cantona, Kanchelskis or Keane will help, but it can’t hurt more than the hell these poor Red Devils find themselves in currently,’ she adds.

United will attempt to take a step in the right direction when they travel to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.
