Forget BRAT summer. Charli XCX is singlehandedly making this summer a cinephile summer.

Charli XCX is concluding a whirlwind year following her Grammy Award-winning album “BRAT.” Despite her hectic schedule, the singer is still sharing her love for movies by logging the numerous films she watches in her spare time on her now-public Letterboxd account.

The singer has started posting informal recaps of her favorite recent viewings on TikTok, where she also takes movie recommendations from fans. In her latest recap, Charli XCX highlighted four films and documentaries, all of which she awarded five stars on Letterboxd, and even mentioned Danny Boyle and Alex Garland‘s new horror sequel, 28 Years Later.

“Danny Boyle is back!” she declared.

Other films that got honorable mentions in her recap include Signs, Carnal Knowledge, Charlotte Forever, Magic Farm, and Lux Aerna.

Her Letterboxd account, which fans discovered in December 2024, indicates she is on track to surpass her 2024 record of total movies logged. She has already logged 114 films in 2025, compared to a total of 212 films in 2024. Now, you can join in and watch alongside the Grammy-winning artist.

Scroll down to check out some of the movies Charli XCX highlighted in her latest recap.

  1. unzipped

Charli XCX rated the 1995 documentary Unzipped five stars on Letterboxd, calling it her “favorite thing” that she’s seen this month, so far. The documentary film offers a candid look at the creation and launch of Isaac Mizrahi’s 1994 fall collection, featuring appearances from that era’s leading supermodels and celebs.

“The thing that this documentary does really well is it really showcases the way an artist goes through their creative process,” Charli XCX says in her recent TikTok. “It showcases the surges of inspiration, it showcases the self-doubt, the vulnerability and then the triumph at the end when you really felt that you’ve achieved something truly amazing. It’s full of passion, this documentary, and kind of one of the quintessential fashion documentaries of the mid ’90s.”

In her Letterboxd review, however, her thoughts on the film were a bit more colorful. “It’s giving PERSONALITY and it just emphasizes that unfortunately most people these days are so fucking boring,” she wrote in her review.

  2. CATWALK, Christy Turlington, 1996

Charli XCX also praised the 1995 documentary Catwalk, which follows a season in the life of 25-year-old supermodel Christy Turlington as she jets from Milan to Paris and New York. The singer said the documentary was “really, really honest,” and highlighted her relationship with other models of her time, such as Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni.

The most surprising part of Charli XCX’s Letterboxd recap was when she announced she recently watched The Bling Ring for the fourth time.

“I feel like it feels more culturally relevant every single time that I rewatch it,” she says in the TikTok recap. “When I watch this film, it feels like I’m reading a salacious gossip magazine which I kind of think is the entire point. Also, I think the fashion is obviously back… it’s giving high fashion.”

She reiterated her love for the film in her five-star review on Letterboxd in which she wrote, “this movie is aging like a fine wine! better with every watch. ps i miss my blackberry xx”

After watching Robert Bresson’s 1967 French tragedy Mouchette, Charli XCX turned to his 1966 film Au Hasard Balthazar.

“Watch this if you want to cry. Because I did,” she tells her fans. Despite the tears, she still rated both films five stars on Letterboxd.

Charli XCX didn’t share many thoughts in her recap about the star-studded sequel to 28 Days Later that is playing now in theaters – but it still got her endorsement.

“Oh, and I watched 28 Years Later. I actually watched this between soundcheck and performing at Dua Lipa’s show, I just needed to run across the road and see this,” she shared in her TikTok, before declaring: “Danny Boyle is back.”

28 Years Later only recently premiered in theaters so it will be some time before it becomes available to stream on demand. However, the 2002 original 28 Days Later starring Cillian Murphy is streaming now on Pluto TV.
