The highly anticipated Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc has finally hit theaters, marking the debut of the beloved manga series on the big screen. Fans are eager to know when they can catch this cinematic adaptation on streaming platforms.
Helmed by director Tatsuya Yoshihara, this film brings to life the story from Tatsuki Fujimoto’s acclaimed manga, Chainsaw Man. After making waves internationally since its late September release, the movie has now arrived in North American cinemas as of last Friday.
The film’s narrative is described as a thrilling and action-packed continuation of the anime series, featuring the iconic Chainsaw Man. The story follows Denji, who initially worked as a Devil Hunter to clear his inherited debt to the yakuza. However, betrayal leads to his untimely demise.
In a twist of fate, as Denji lay dying, his loyal chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, offers him a lifeline. By merging with Denji, Pochita transforms him into the formidable Chainsaw Man. As Denji navigates a dangerous world filled with devils, hunters, and hidden adversaries, he encounters Reze, a mysterious girl who challenges him to a perilous battle driven by newfound emotions in a relentless struggle for survival.
The official summary for the film reads, “For the first time, Chainsaw Man slashes his way onto the big screen in an epic, action-fueled adventure that continues the hugely popular anime series. Denji worked as a Devil Hunter for the yakuza, trying to pay off the debt he inherited from his parents, until the yakuza betrayed him and had him killed.
“As he was losing consciousness, Denji’s beloved chainsaw-powered devil-dog, Pochita, made a deal with Denji and saved his life. This fused the two together, creating the unstoppable Chainsaw Man. Now, in a brutal war between devils, hunters, and secret enemies, a mysterious girl named Reze has stepped into his world, and Denji faces his deadliest battle yet, fueled by love in a world where survival knows no rules.”
Like the recent worldwide blockbuster Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc is a Sony Pictures Entertainment/Crunchyroll production. As such, the new movie will likely forgo the digital streaming route — where films become available for purchase or rent on premium video on demand — and first be available for home viewing on Sony’s Crunchyroll streaming platform.
Generally, it takes Sony/Crunchyroll films about four and a half to five months from the time they appear in North American theaters and the time they arrive on the Crunchyroll streaming platform.
For example, Spy x Family Code: White debuted on Crunchyroll on Sept. 5, 2024, roughly four and a half months after it premiered in theaters domestically on April 19, 2024.
In addition, the studio’s Haikyu!! The Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump debuted on Crunchyroll on Oct. 31, 2024, five months to the day after it opened in theaters domestically on May 31, 2024.
As such, Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc will likely begin streaming on Crunchyroll sometime between March 10 and March 24, 2026.
