Abraham preference clear amid Premier League battle for forward
In another intriguing move, Tammy Abraham has set his sights on joining Aston Villa this month. Despite late interest from Nottingham Forest, the former Chelsea striker remains keen on a return to the Premier League. However, his current club, Turkish side Besiktas, has yet to be convinced to release him.
Over at Norwich City, striker Josh Sargent finds himself in a bit of a predicament. After refusing to play in their recent match against Walsall, he has been relegated to training with the under-21 squad. Toronto FC has expressed interest in bringing the USA international back to the MLS, but their offer was rejected. Nevertheless, Sargent is eager to return to North America for personal reasons.
As these stories unfold, fans will be watching closely to see how clubs and players navigate this exciting and unpredictable transfer period.

Norwich star banished to under-21s amid MLS interest
Norwich City striker Josh Sargent has been forced to train with the club’s under-21s after refusing to play against Walsall last weekend.
Toronto have made a bid for the USA international, which was turned down, but he is intent on a move back to the MLS for his family.
He will also be unavailable for tomorrow’s clash with Wrexham. Norwich head coach Philippe Clement confirmed the disciplinary measure saying: ‘Sarge is training with the second team. What he did was not acceptable for anybody in the club. He knows that that’s the situation now, so I don’t think there’s much more to say about that now.’
Toronto and Norwich remain in talks but the Canadian club’s opening offer of around £15m fell short of the Canaries’ valuation.
Hammers midfielder Irving in line for shock move
West Ham midfielder Andrew Irving is in talks to join Sparta Prague in a surprise move.
Sparta owner Daniel Křetínský also holds a stake in West Ham, while their sporting director is former Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky.
Scotland international Irving has had a number of clubs enquiring to take him on loan but Sparta now look favourites.
Rosicky told iSport: ‘We had a plan to bring in another midfielder. Santiago Eneme was out for a fairly significant period, which made it even more difficult. But yes, we still need one more body.’
Meanwhile, Flamengo target Lucas Paqueta is increasingly doubtful to face Tottenham tomorrow.
City and Guehi agree £20m deal
Marc Guehi has agreed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Manchester City for a basic fee of around £20million. Crystal Palace will retain a sell-on for their departing captain and the overall fee with add-ons could take it closer to £30m.
Outgoing Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed on Friday that Guehi’s move was in the ‘final stages’. Things then moved quickly and he will have his medical on Sunday.
Glasner said his captain would not play at Sunderland on Saturday, before the manager revealed that he, too, would be leaving the club in the summer.
City’s ability to convince Guehi of making the move in this window, as opposed to the summer, has been key in the negotiations and the player is believed to have been convinced that a switch to the Etihad Stadium is the right decision.
Guehi was in line to potentially make greater financial gain in the summer as a free agent when the likes of Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Arsenal were ready to make substantial offers.
But City, Palace and the player decided now was the time to move.
Palace, meanwhile, have been rebuffed in an initial proposal for Angers forward Sidiki Cherif, 19. The French club are holding out for a £21.6m permanent fee, while Palace want a £3m loan with an option to buy.

Fulham are maintaining dialogue over a possible deal for PSV Eindhoven striker Ricardo Pepi despite him undergoing surgery this week.
The 22-year-old USA international fractured his forearm last week and faces up to seven weeks out.

Opportunistic Liverpool
Liverpool maintain it will be a quiet window for them though they remain alert to opportunities.
Manager Arne Slot, talking about January transfer plans, this morning said: ‘Everyone is aligned about the challenges we are facing. That is not to say we are going to act but everyone is aligned. There is no-one who has a different opinion on it. That is not to say anything is going to happen.’

They have checked on Napoli winger Noa Lang’s situation.
Coach Daniel Farke said on Thursday: ‘We missed out in the last days of the summer window on a creative, No 10, wide player. Since then, we have developed a good, capable group and we will only do something with the top characters who improve our squad.’
Malen completes Roma switch
Donyell Malen has completed a move to Roma for a fee of £21.6m.
He will wear the number 14 shirt at Roma, who are currently fifth in Serie A.
The Italian side accelerated their pursuit of the 26-year-old Netherlands forward amid rival interest from Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
Malen signed for Villa from Borussia Dortmund a year ago for an initial fee of £21m and has made 46 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.
Leeds finally land Buonanotte from Brighton
Leeds United have signed Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton at the second time of asking.
The Argentina midfielder was due to fly to Leeds in August only to make a late U-turn after Chelsea stepped in at the last minute to sign him. However, with his game time limited, Leeds asked again and the 21-year-old has cut short his loan at Chelsea to move to Elland Road on a loan with option to buy.
‘I really wanted to come to Leeds instead of anywhere else. The time was right for me to come here to Leeds,’ he told LUTV.
‘First, I want to help Leeds. I need to do a good job here. And then, of course, if I have a chance to go to the World Cup, obviously I want to go.’
