RIIZE's Seugnhan Returns As XngHan With Solo Debut ‘Waste No Time’

When Seunghan debuted onto the K-pop scene with RIIZE in 2023, the boy band stood out for sharing themselves through a mix of unfiltered social-media aesthetic blended with a pristinely polished pop sound. After a back-and-forth exit from the group and rebrand as XngHan, the 21-year-old has recaptured that same authenticity he embodied early in his career for his comeback as a solo artist with his new dance project XngHan&Xoul.

A crew consisting of XngHan with dancers Kyohong and Yul, the trio debuted with Waste No Time on Thursday, July 31, featuring two songs in the title track and “Heavenly Blue.” The trio first previewed the euphoric dance-pop sound of the record in an intro video released on July 23 that highlights XngHan’s knack for airy falsetto notes. The actual video introduces XngHan dancing on his own, but soon sees Kyohong and Yul join him as the visual cuts from a flashy, choreographed rain scene to lo-fi hangout clips.

“Waste No Time” is the official debut single of XngHan&Xoul that takes a similarly bright synth-pop sound, but gives it greater mainstream appeal with a repetitive chorus built around double-kick bass drum effects. Amid experimental tempo shifts, XngHan lets his impressive falsetto fly again while the song sprinkles peppy brass, trap beats and shout-along chants to up its allure for listeners beyond the dance-pop crowd.

The accompanying music video sees XngHan&Xoul coming together to perform and live their best lives. The direction of the visual does a particularly great job highlighting some of the advantages that a rare K-pop trio shows since every member can be featured in action shots like when they drive an off-road go-kart or run through a herd of goats. Another highlight comes in how the guys can playfully dance with one another in a garage, with their moves coming off more realistic and relatable than, say, a large K-pop group or a troupe of back-up dancers, which wouldn’t fit the laidback nature of the visual.

Beyond his music and visuals, XngHan is also not shying away from more challenging questions or even recognizing his former band mates — a refreshing moment for authenticity in the sometimes buttoned-up K-pop world.

“I know that RIIZE is doing so well and I’m rooting for them as a fellow artist,” he told The Hollywood Reporter when asked if he had hopes for his members. “I hope they stay healthy and well. [Since]

I’m also preparing my new launch as a soloist, I hope people stay tuned [for my debut]. I’m really going to pour my heart and soul into this.”

Similar to the “Waste No Time” message of wanting to seize the moment and move forward without fear, XngHan has a positive attitude in looking forward in his new start and encouraging others to do the same, calling this solo debut “a new beginning for me.”

“I hope everyone can look at me from a fresh perspective,” he added to THR. “I just hope that when fans watch my performance and see me performing live, they get so excited and happy. They can’t help but dance. That’s what I want the fans to view me as. When I’m on stage, I want to be remembered as an artist who just lights the stage on fire and nails every performance.”

Whether you knew him as Seunghan the SM Entertainment trainee or are just getting to know him today as XngHan, officially meet XngHan&Xoul below with the “Waste No Time” music video.
