Buc-ee's slammed with 'F' rating after wave of complaints

This popular travel hub, renowned for having the “world’s cleanest bathrooms,” has garnered a devoted fanbase and proudly showcases an adorable beaver mascot. However, this charming figure couldn’t prevent the Texas-founded Buc-ee’s from receiving an F rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

Despite being recognized as the largest convenience store globally, Buc-ee’s earned a poor grade following the submission of nearly 90 complaints against it.

The BBB’s rating system spans from A+ to F, where customer reviews themselves do not directly influence the score. Instead, the emphasis is on how a company addresses and resolves grievances.

The rating was impacted by the company’s “Failure to respond to 88 complaint(s) filed against business,” as highlighted in the evaluation report. The same number of complaints was reiterated in a subsequent point.

According to the BBB’s website, customers have reported that their inquiries often go unanswered. Additionally, there are complaints about unhelpful customer service, inflated prices, limited parking, and restrictions on returning certain products.

Customers claim their inquiries aren’t answered, the chain has rude customer service, overpriced items, poor parking, and an inability to return certain items, according to the BBB’s website.

‘There is never enough parking, so everyone leaves their vehicles at the pumps and the lines back up to the street on all locations, making the waiting time a half hour or more,’ one complaint stated.

‘When you do get inside the food is bland at best and generally horrible. It is definitely not Texas BBQ by any stretch of the imagination and is very overpriced,’ it continued.

‘What a rip-off! Rack of Warmies marked as $24.95, but rang up as $29.99. The manager said they HAVE to charge what rings up. I have pictures of price of $24.95 clearly marked above the items,’ another agitated customer wrote.

‘What a scam! I will NEVER go into another Buc-ee’s!’ they slammed.

‘Returned an item five seconds after purchasing. They said [it] would be credited to my account. A month later, nothing,’ one consumer explained.

They added that they couldn’t reach the business—and when they called, it went straight to voicemail.

Nevertheless, these negative complaints have not slowed the company’s expansion into eight new states.

The company currently has 54 US locations across 11 states, with plans to grow into Ohio, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Carolina, and Wisconsin.

As it plants its flag in new corners of the map, it promises more supersized pit stops with a hundred-plus gas pumps, a store packed with brisket and beaver nuggets, and famously clean bathrooms.

Buc-ee’s has a cult following, particularly among Gen-Z, thanks to its social media-friendly snacks and over-the-top scale.

Fan favorites include the Sausage on a Stick, Dr Pepper Icees, and an entire wall of jerky.

The largest Buc-ee’s location is a 75,000 square-foot station with 120 fuel pumps that opened in Luling in 2024.

The Luling location had snatched the title of biggest Buc-ee’s from a location opened up in Tennessee back in 2023.
