For investors, there is nothing like reports of a new Covid-19 variant over Thanksgiving to put things in perspective.

Stock markets around the world had a very black Black Friday, as fears spread that a new coronavirus variant first detected in Botswana and South Africa could be vaccine-resistant. Several nations have already placed these countries and their neighbors on a “red list” requiring travelers to quarantine. Meanwhile, old versions of Covid are wreaking havoc in Europe.
