SANFORD, Fla. – As we continue to highlight pedestrian safety, I want to focus on some busy areas in our community where foot traffic and vehicle traffic intersect—and sometimes conflict. These are roads many of us travel daily, but they’re also routes that neighbors and families use to reach their destinations.

Regrettably, during Friday morning’s traffic report, we delivered heartbreaking news: a tragic crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle. After the show, I visited the scene myself. One thing was immediately apparent—there was no crosswalk.

I understand that not every street has a crosswalk or a safe crossing point, but it reminds me of an important truth: ultimately, we are each responsible for the decisions we make on the road, whether walking or driving. Every choice counts.

Today, I’m taking that message to Rinehart Road and State Road 46 in Sanford. It’s an area many of you know well—lined with businesses on both sides, and a road that sees thousands of drivers every single day. It’s the kind of place where safety should never be an afterthought.

So as we head into the weekend, let’s end our Friday with a little extra awareness and care.

Join me on our live stream at 10 a.m. as we take a closer look at this busy stretch of road, talk about ways we can all be safer, and hopefully inspire each other to make decisions that protect lives.

Let’s keep looking out for one another.
