Case: Health Care & Benefits/Life Insurance (6th Cir.) – Bloomberg Law

The Sixth Circuit affirmed a federal district court’s decision dismissing a challenge by the ex-wife of a federal employee to the award of a Metropolitan Life Insurance Company policy to the employee’s only child, due to lack of jurisdiction. The ex-wife claimed that a separation agreement signed at the time of the divorce entitled her to the life insurance proceeds. The court held that it lacked subject matter jurisdiction over the case because the ex-wife and child are both Kentucky residents. And the court ruled that the Federal Employees’ Group Life Insurance Act doesn’t contain an express or implied cause…
