Riot Games announced the development of a mobile version of Valorant back in 2021, having previously made the game available exclusively on PC before extending it to Xbox Series X / S and PS5 last August. Developed by Chinese studio LightSpeed, there’s still no official release window for Valorant Mobile outside of China, as highlighted in a post stating it’s “starting in China and taking it from there.” According to Esports Insider, playtesting is already underway in China, and registrants for this test can earn exclusive player cards through in-game tasks. The publication shares two unlisted videos, including a game trailer.

This announcement adheres to the growing trend of popular shooters like Call of Duty being ported to mobile platforms, a trend that has been gaining traction in recent years. LightSpeed has previously been responsible for mobile versions of PUBG and Apex Legends, although the latter was discontinued in 2023.
