BRISTOL, Va. (WJHL) — Residents recently had the chance to share their thoughts on a new trail project that aims to connect the Mendota Trail with downtown Bristol, Virginia.
On Wednesday, an open house was organized to discuss plans for linking the current Mendota Trail parking area at I-81 to Cumberland Square Park.
This initiative follows the city securing financial support through grants from both the Appalachian Regional Commission and the Tobacco Revitalization Commission.
The city is currently conducting a study to explore possible pathways for the trail and sought public feedback on Tuesday.
“It’s an opportunity for everyone to gather and review the maps,” stated Jay Detrick, Community Development Director for Bristol, Virginia.
According to Detrick, there are several potential routes under consideration for the trail.
City hopes to have the study finished by the end of the year.
