Is Shawn Hochuli Ed Hochuli’s Son? Shawn is one of former NFL official Ed Hochuli’s six children.
Ed’s name and legacy in the NFL will live on for generations. During his prime, he was the greatest of all time and had also competed professionally in a variety of sports, including football, basketball, wrestling, and track racing. In 1969, he enrolled at Canyon del Oro High School in Tucson’s enclave of Oro Valley, Arizona, where he eventually graduated. In 1972, he graduated with honors from the University of Texas at El Paso after finishing high school.
Hochuli played linebacker for the football team at UTEP from 1969 to 1972. In 1972, he was named academic All-Western Athletic Conference in football. He worked as an NFL official from 1990 to 2017. Since 1983, he has been an attorney with Jones, Skelton & Hochuli, P.L.C.
Hochuli worked many postseason games, including two Super Bowls. Most famous for his athletic build and ability to explain on-field decisions concisely and efficiently. Hochuli broke the record for the NFL’s longest-serving official in 2010. He announced his retirement in March 2018. After working as a back judge in the NFL and an Arena Football League, his son Shawn Hochuli was promoted to referee the following year.
Shawn’s father is regarded as one of the greatest referees in NFL history, and in keeping with the adage “Like Father, Like Son,” he is attempting to emulate his father’s success by imitating him. He has five siblings. His brothers, Daniel and Peter, work as town lawyers and Juvenile Court judges, respectively, while his other brother, Scott Hochuli, runs a construction company.
