Biography:
Thai rapper and Blackpink member Lisa was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997 in Buriram, Thailand. She legally changed her name to Lalisa. She started taking dance classes at age 4 and went on to compete in several dancing competitions. When she was 13, the South Korean record label YG Entertainment held an audition in Thailand, which she attended. Already interesting in K-pop music, she stood out among 4,000 applicants and was the only one chosen in Thailand, leading her to become a YG trainee. In 2011, she moved to South Korea to begin her training, which lasted five years.
During her training years, she appeared as a back-up dancer in a few music videos, as well as worked as a model. In 2016, she officially debuted as one of the members of the girl group Blackpink. They have released two albums so far: Blackpink in Your Area and The Album. She then joined the South Korean variety show Real Man 300 in 2018. In 2021, Lisa made her debut solo album with Lalisa with the lead single, also called Lalisa, becoming the most-viewed video by a solo artist in one day with 73.6 million views. The album’s second single, “Money”, also achieved global success.
