Jon Landau was born on 23 July 1960, in New York City, New York, USA. He is of Jewish descent. Jon is a film producer best known for working with James Cameron in the highly successful film “Avatar”. He also worked with him in the iconic and successful film “Titanic”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Landau is the son of producers Ely A. Landau and Edie Landau. He attended the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and then one of the first film’s he produced was “Campus Man” released in 1987. He would then go and produce films such as “Dick Tracy” (with Warren Beatty), and “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids”. Later, he would earn popularity and a significant increase in net worth when he produced “Titanic”, gaining him an Academy Award; it was the first film on which he collaborated with James Cameron, and became the highest-grossing film of all time, holding the record for many years, also earning him a Directs Guild of America, a Golden Satellite, an MTV Movie, two OFTA Film, and PGA Awards.

During this time Jon worked at Twentieth Century Fox as the Executive Vice President of Feature Film Production. Cameron and Jon have worked together in films ever since including 2002’s “Solaris” and 2009’s “Avatar” – once again a blockbuster, surpassing “Titanic” as the highest-grossing film of the time. The film would raise Jon’s net worth to an even higher point. Landau would gain an Academy Award nomination but it was later given to producers of the film “The Hurt Locker”. “Avatar” would go on to win two Golden Globe Awards.
Jon has also directed the film “The Last Summer”. for which he also made the screenplay. He’s also worked on several television specials, including “Winter Break” and “Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band”. He appeared as a judge during “The 47th Annual Miss USA Pageant”, and was featured in “Titanic: Breaking New Ground”.

It has recently been reported that Jon is working with James Cameron on the sequel of “Avatar”, the film series set to be completed in four parts, with the second delayed part now due to be released in late 2018. Landau has also reported to have been working on two other films, entitled “The Informationist” and “Battle Angel”. He is still in great demand, so his net worth continues to rise.

For his personal life, it is known that Jon was previously married to Janet Maslin and Barbara Downey, and is now married to Julie with whom he has two children. He is also regularly invited as a guest speaker at various educational institutions and big companies.
