According to a report by WRBL-TV in Columbus, Georgia, Auburn quarterback T.J. Finley was being held at the Lee County Detention Center in Opelika, Alabama, on Thursday on a charge of attempting to flee the Auburn Police Department.
WRBL was not yet aware of the details that resulted in the arrest of the Ponchatoula, Louisiana, native. Finley left LSU in May 2021 to join Auburn, where he saw a lot of action this past season. He was thought to be a strong candidate to start at quarterback for the team this season.

The only returning member in the quarterback room is Finley, who switched to Auburn last summer. He played the Tigers’ final three games of the 2021 season after Bo Nix suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Finley completed 70 of 128 passes for 827 yards, six touchdowns, and an interception in nine games as a sophomore.
