Elon Musk slammed Tim Walz with a savage insult after the failed Democratic VP candidate mocked Tesla’s tumbling stock value. The Tesla chief was branded an ‘un-elected, South African nepo-baby’ by Walz this week at a town hall in Wisconsin titled ‘The People vs Musk’, where Walz took aim at the electric car maker’s 41.4 percent stock fall as of March. ‘On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day,’ Walz said at the event.

In response, Musk ridiculed Walz over his heavy election defeat in November alongside Kamala Harris , saying he gets the same ‘boost’ when he remembers their drubbing. ‘Sometimes when I need a little boost, I look at the @JDVance portrait in the White House and thank the Lord,’ Musk wrote on X. The White House’s ‘Rapid Response’ account piled on, adding in its own post alongside Vance and President Trump’s official portraits: ‘When we need a little boost during the day at the White House, we walk around the corner from our office and admire these beautiful portraits.’

It comes as Walz has faced backlash from conservatives for his remarks at the town hall, with some accusing him of celebrating the downfall of a key American-based company. The GOP House Judiciary said the Minnesota Governor exhibited ‘disgusting behavior’, while Texas Senator Ted Cruz branded him a ‘small, petty, vindictive, evil [expletive]’ who ‘represents today’s Democrats well.’ Walz’s remarks on Tesla’s struggles come as some customers revolt against his intimate ties to the Trump White House, with liberal groups calling for a boycott of the electric car manufacturer.

Tesla vehicles and facilities across America have also been targeted by vandalism and attacks in recent weeks, including in Las Vegas this week where several of the vehicles were firebombed . The FBI launched an investigation into the attack, and Attorney General Pam Bondi branded the incident ‘nothing short of domestic terrorism.’

Walz’s speech aimed at Musk comes as the former VP candidate has been on a media blitz in recent weeks, fueling speculation that he is considering a run for president in 2028. When pressed by the New Yorker earlier this month, the 60-year-old did not rule out a run for the White House. ‘Look I never had an ambition to be President or Vice President. I was honored to be asked,’ he said. ‘If I feel like I can serve, I will. And if nationally, people are like, “Dude we tried you and look how that worked out,” I’m good with that.’

When the politician was then asked point-blank whether he would ever run for president, he replied: ‘Well I had a friend tell me, “Never turn down a job you haven’t been offered.” ‘If I think I could offer something… I would certainly consider that. I’m also, though, not arrogant enough to believe there’s a lot of people that can do this.’ He then explained that if the circumstances are right in 2028 and he has the right ‘skill set’ for the moment, ‘I’ll do it.’

‘I’ll do whatever it takes. I certainly wouldn’t be arrogant enough to think that it needs to be me. While Walz weighs a run for president, he faces the prospect of the world’s richest man dampening his hopes. Musk’s insult hurled at Walz this week was far from his first, with the Tesla chief mocking Walz’s November defeat last month as well.

Walz said in an X post that ‘the richest man in the world is sitting at the Resolute Desk, about to defund your public school. Trump should stop him.’ Musk responded: ‘What’s your name again? I forgot.’

In another exchange days earlier, Musk mocked Walz’s moves as Governor in Minnesota to allow tampons to be placed in boy’s bathrooms in schools. After Walz said that Musk was ‘a terrible president’, Musk responded with a meme of an elderly character from the movie Up ridiculing Walz.
