Elon Musk has suspended a Twitter user who created a ‘youth attracted person’ flag to support pedophiles.

The billionaire tech CEO shut down the account – under the username Pot Luck Pony – and condemned it in a tweet.

The account, which had no identifiable name associated with it, had earlier posted the blue, white, pink and yellow flag on their timeline.

They claimed it was for ‘Alice Day’, which is a sick, pseudo-holiday created by some to celebrate pedophilia.

The account posted on Tuesday: ‘Happy Alice Day, to those who celebrate! I figured, why not use today to unveil the YAP (Youth Attracted person) pride flag I designed almost a year ago?

‘I wanted to stray from the oft used horizontal bars motif, but only a little. I wanted to retain some familiarity.’

Under a day later, Musk kicked the person from the social media site and condemned the tweet.

He wrote ‘not tolerated on this platform’ in response to a post from Dr Anastasia Maria Loupis.

Dr Loupis, who says on her account she is a medical doctor, had posted: ‘Elon Musk suspended the person who made a pedophilia flag. Well done, Elon.’

She later also replied to Musk, saying: ‘Thank you dear Elon. You are doing amazing things for humanity.’

Twitter slashed its child sexual abuse team in half in December after taking over the social media giant in October.

Musk kicked the user off the site and then tweeted on Wednesday afternoon: ‘Not tolerated on this platform’

Bloomberg reported late last year that the number of people hunting down these accounts was down from 20 to just 10.

Meanwhile only one person is reportedly responsible for checking content posted in the whole of the Asia-Pacific division.

Dr Mellissa Withers, from the University of Southern California, told Forbes at the time: ‘In this digital era, child sex trafficking and exploitation have become much more widespread and difficult to address.

‘Criminals have become savvier about ways to avoid detection through the Internet. It is much easier to exploit children today than even 20 years ago.’

Last month Musk shot down claims in a BBC report that his website had become rampant with child sexual exploitation.

In a message posted on the site, he sarcastically apologized for ‘turning Twitter from a nurturing paradise into a place that has… trolls.’

He added ‘(real article from organization calling itself the BBC)’ and replied to another user saying ‘have to admit trolls are kinda fun’.

Twitter insiders previously told the BBC the company could not protect users from ‘trolls’ following recent layoffs.

They said that that new changes and features made it hard to protect Twitter users from trolling and harassment.

This was supported by ‘exclusive academic data’ provided to the BBC, which found misogynistic hate was on the rise on the site and that there had been a 69 percent increase in new accounts following misogynistic or abusive profiles.

The BBC Panorama report cited figures from the Institute for Strategic Dialogue think tank which showed that tens of thousands of new accounts have popped up and immediately followed known abusive and misogynistic profiles since Mr Musk took over.

The figures were 69 percent higher than before he was in charge, suggesting a ‘permissive environment,’ the report claimed.

The BBC cited Lisa Jennings Young, a former head of content design at Twitter, who said that before the takeover the platform was trying to crack down on trolling, which was widespread on Twitter.

‘It was not at all perfect. But we were trying, and we were making things better all the time,’ she said.

She said everyone on her team, which created safety measures designed to protect users from hate, had been sacked.

Young said one of her team’s most successful features was the ‘harmful reply nudge’, allowing users to be warned against posting harmful content – without actually preventing them from posting.

Using AI technology to detect harmful language, the ‘nudge’ alerts users before they send a tweet – stopping many people from writing abusive messages.

At the end of February, Twitter laid off another 200 employees, around 10 percent of its remaining workforce, in the latest round of job cuts since Elon Musk took over last October.

The layoffs brought Twitter’s workforce down to under 2,000 – a sharp fall from the 7,500 employed when the billionaire first took over.

A day after, Musk Tweeted: ‘Hope you have a good Sunday. First day of the rest of your life.’
