Usha Vance reveals pregnancy amid growing 'MAGA baby boom'

Commentators have dubbed the phenomenon the ‘MAGA baby boom’.

In a recent announcement, Usha Vance, aged 40, became the third individual linked to the Trump administration — and notably the first second lady in a century and a half — to share exciting pregnancy news. She revealed she is expecting her fourth child, a son, by late July.

This revelation follows closely on the heels of Katie Miller, 34, married to Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy, Stephen Miller. Katie also announced her fourth pregnancy merely 21 days before. Similarly, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, disclosed she is expecting her second child, a daughter, just 25 days prior.

While these concurrent pregnancies might just be serendipitous, experts noted to the Daily Mail that it isn’t unusual for women acquainted with each other to experience pregnancy simultaneously.

Dr. Carole Lieberman, a renowned forensic psychiatrist based in Beverly Hills, California, explained to the Daily Mail: “There are several theories surrounding ‘pregnancy clusters’. It’s akin to ‘social contagion’… and represents a shared, positive life event.”

“Karoline Leavitt, Usha Vance, and Katie Miller all belong to the Trump administration, where there’s an overarching atmosphere of optimism and progressiveness that seems to inspire women to welcome new life,” she added.

‘On top of this, both President Trump and Elon Musk are big proponents of women having babies because of the declining birthrate in America.’

‘So, unconsciously, being surrounded by these messages [appears to] have had an impact.’

Why the White House is becoming a hub for expectant moms

Leavitt’s baby is due in May 2026, while Vance’s is due about two months later. Miller’s is also due within the coming months, although the sex has not been revealed.

In an Instagram post revealing her pregnancy, Leavitt said expecting a child was the ‘closest thing to Heaven on Earth’.

And she thanked President Donald Trump and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support.

In an interview with Fox News, she said: ‘Nearly all my West Wing colleagues have babies and young children, so we all really support one another as we tackle raising our families while working for the greatest president ever.’

Leavitt also congratulated Vance on her pregnancy yesterday, writing on X: ‘Congratulations to our great Vice President and lovely Second Lady Usha Vance.’

Dr Sujatha Reddy, an OB-GYN in Atlanta, Georgia, told Daily Mail that it was possible the supportive atmosphere in the White House combined with a sense of optimism about the future may have led to the pregnancies.

She told Daily Mail: ‘I love hearing that [Leavitt’s colleagues are supportive] as I think the workplace can be difficult for new moms and families.’

‘If you feel like you have support, that may push the decision a little bit because you feel you will be able to keep your job and raise a baby.’

Pregnancy as a peer trend

‘Oftentimes, there may be a pregnancy cluster in friendship circles or a co-working space because women are at the same stage of life.’

‘They may see a colleague who is pregnant too and think, “I want to try that”. Someone may see a baby and think, “Oh my god, what an adorable baby!”, and maybe that means they decide that they want to have a baby too.’

Dr Reddy added that women working closely together may also have children at the same time too because they feel they have social support.

She told Daily Mail: ‘Getting pregnant at the same time allows you to choose the same schools, same playgrounds and share childcare.’

A 2014 study on 33,000 female co-workers across 6,000 employees found that over the year after a colleague gave birth, the number of women experiencing a first pregnancy doubled. It showed this effect, however, declined after two years.

Today’s ‘MAGA baby boom’ is not be the first example of multiple women getting pregnant at the same time in a workplace.

Power in numbers

In one case last year, 14 labor and delivery nurses at a hospital in Wisconsin all became pregnant at about the same time. Hospital executives called it an ‘incredible full-circle moment’.

Last year, six on-air anchors and reporters at CNBC also all became pregnant at the same time, with one of the reporters telling PEOPLE there was ‘something powerful’ in getting pregnant together, adding ‘you’re not doing this alone’.

And, in 2021, 36 neonatal intensive care nurses at a children’s hospital in Missouri all also became pregnant at about the same time, saying that the pandemic and their workplace had brought them all closer together.

Dr Reddy said that, in her experience at her clinic, she has seen groups of friends in their mid to late 20s and early 30s get pregnant at around the same time. She said the clusters were often about three or four pregnancies at the same time.

She told Daily Mail: ‘They’ve been to each other’s weddings, have been bridesmaids together, spent most of their lives together, and it often comes down to just the right age, right timing.’

‘One might be on a second baby, one on a first baby, it might be coincidence or the social drive of wanting a child.’

The recent MAGA baby boom comes amid calls from the Trump administration for a nationwide ‘baby boom’, with supporters urging more couples to have children in order to ‘save society’.

In Trump’s first term, from 2017 to 2021, America’s birth rate fell seven percent overall from 11.84 births to 11.04 births per 1,000 people

Under Biden, they dropped again, declining four percent to reach a record low of 10.67 per 1,000 in 2024, the latest year that data is available.

But Trump, 79, who has five children, has called himself the ‘fertilization president’, and sought to help boost fertility rates by inking a deal that slashed the price of in-vitro fertilization drugs, which officials say could save patients up to $2,200 per cycle.

Vice President JD Vance has also called for Americans to have more children, saying at a March for Life rally in 2024: ‘I want more happy children in our country, and I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them’.

Elon Musk, a prominent former Trump ally who is reported to have 14 children, has warned that falling birth rates are the ‘biggest danger civilization faces by far’.

The rise of the 2026 Pronatalist movement

Some women are embracing the push for more babies, however, and declared that they are now seeking to have more children to reverse this societal trend.

Among them is Simone Collins, late 30s, from Pennsylvania, and her husband Malcolm, who have four children together via IVF.

They grabbed headlines in 2023 after revealing they had used genetic screening to select desirable characteristics in their offspring.

Others include popular Catholic writer Peachy Keenan, a mother-of-five, who lives in deep blue California but says she was inspired by Trump to have more children.

She said, reported the Daily Telegraph: ‘To save our country, we need to get out and push the babies out, and to do it in mass scale.’

‘When did raising your own baby become this political taboo?’

Usha Vance has announced that she is pregnant and expecting a baby boy

Usha Vance has announced that she is pregnant and expecting a baby boy.

‘We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July,’ the Second Lady’s office posted on X.

Vice President JD Vance, 41, and Usha, 40, added that they are ‘grateful to the military doctors who take excellent care of our family.’

The couple who met at Yale Law School, married in 2014 and share two sons, Ewan, 8, and Vivek, 5, and a daughter, four-year-old Mirabel.

The announcement comes amid vicious rumors about the Vance’s marriage after Usha was spotted without her wedding ring on several public outings.

A spokesman for Usha explained to the Daily Mail last month that she is ‘a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.’

JD Vance, in an interview on December 4 told NBC News, that ‘we kind of get a kick out of’ the rumors. ‘With anything in life, you take the good with the bad,’ he added.

‘You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are some very good things that come along with it, too.’

‘The vice president’s wife rarely grants interviews and typically avoids the media spotlight.’

The pair met in 2013 when they attended the same classes at Yale and JD was so smitten that he told her that he loved her after their first date.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt flaunts baby bump

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has been showing off her growing baby bump just a few weeks after she announced that she was expecting her second child- a daughter – with 60-year-old husband Nicholas Riccio.

In a new photo posted to her Instagram story on Monday night, Leavitt posed alongside President Donald Trump’s Special Assistant and Communications Advisor, Margo Martin, as they twinned in maroon-colored outfits.

Leavitt, 28, cradled her baby bump as she wore a long-sleeved, burgundy sweater with a cream ruffle at the hem, along with matching, dark-colored flared pants.

She wrapped her hands around the growing bump as she smiled standing next to Martin, who was wearing belted, burgundy-colored flare pants and a matching, form-fitting, crewneck long-sleeved sweater.

‘Matching today with Margo Martin,’ Leavitt wrote in the caption of the photo, adding in the ‘twin’ emoji next to it.

The photo comes nearly one month after Leavitt revealed that she is expecting her second child, due in May 2026.

Leavitt already shares son Nicholas ‘Niko’ Robert Riccio, one, with her husband.

The 28-year-old made the announcement in an Instagram post just one day after Christmas, standing in front of the tree as she showed off her growing belly in a white bodycon dress.

‘The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for – a baby girl coming in May 2026,’ Leavitt wrote in the caption of the post.

‘My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother.’

My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth,’ her message continued.

She also gave a shout-out to both President Trump and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles in her announcement, thanking them for creating a ‘pro-family’ environment at work.

‘I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House,’ Leavitt typed.

‘2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!’ she concluded. So far, Leavitt has dressed up this pregnancy by wearing long statement jackets and colorful blazers.

Previously, she spoke to The Conservateur about balancing her demanding job with raising her son in a rare 2024 interview.
