President Donald Trump blasted ‘left-wing billionaires’ for being behind the attacks on Tesla lots as he defended DOGE chief Elon Musk. The president also argued those wealthy liberals were behind his state and federal indictments. He discussed the matter in an interview on NewsMax.

Newsmax’s Greg Kelly brought up the ‘Tesla violence,’ asking the president: ‘Have you heard anything about billionaires on the left, whether it’s Soros or somebody else? Have you heard anything about planning, coordination, funding for these attacks?’ ‘I believe that is part of it. Yeah,’ Trump said. ‘ There are some of them that were involved with my trials that were, I think, probably involved with that also. And you know, Elon has done a very good job.’

Violence and vandalism have been occurring against Tesla vehicles and sales lots for months amid anger over CEO Elon Musk’s work at the Department of Government Efficiency, where he has ruthless slashed agencies and fired federal workers. The FBI created a task force intended to ‘crack down on violent Tesla attacks,’ the agency announced Monday.

‘This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice,’ director Kash Patel said. Anti-Tesla incidents have happened in at least nine states, according to the bureau. Meanwhile, it’s unclear exactly who Trump was thinking of when he blasted liberal billionaires.

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros, however, has long been a bogeyman for the far right. And Trump’s indictment in New York unleashed a new flurry of conspiracy theories about Soros. Trump supporters claimed the Jewish financier was influencing Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who led the grand jury indictment of Trump over a hush money payment to a adult star.

The online chatter was sparked by donations Soros made to the criminal justice group Color of Change, which endorsed Bragg for DA in 2021. Michael Vachon, a spokesman for Soros, told AFP the billionaire ‘has never met, spoken with, or otherwise communicated with Alvin Bragg.’

Trump has attacked Soros on many occasions. When he signed an executive order to punish the law firm Perkins Coie, he said the firm ‘has worked with activist donors including George Soros to judicially overturn popular, necessary, and democratically enacted election laws.’

Trump has railed about his legal troubles – calling it a ‘witch hunt’ against him. The cases were dropped when he won re-election. Still, the president filled the Justice Department and FBI with his loyalists, naming Pam Bondi as attorney general and Kash Patel as FBI director. He fired inspector generals across the federal agencies and is shrinking the size of the government.

Democrats have their own billionaire boogeyman: Elon Musk. They argue Musk bought the election for Trump and is working to reshape the federal government for his own benefit. Musk’s super PAC spent about $200 million to help get Trump elected.
