United Airlines is set to launch its long awaited in-flight internet perk through SpaceX's Starlink high-speed Wi-Fi. The airline confirmed that free Wi-Fi will be available on select flights starting next month. This move follows American, Delta, and Southwest, who have already rolled out their own in-flight internet services.

United last month installed Starlink on a regional aircraft and plans to offer it on over 40 planes soon. 'Our ability to roll out this innovative service with unprecedented speed and scale is a direct result of the advanced equipment, technology and team of experts at United,' said Grant Milstead of United. This service will be free to all United passengers over the next few years.

United is not the only US-based airline to implement Starlink on its aircrafts. Hawaiian Airlines was the first US carrier to offer in-flight Wi-Fi in 2024 after announcing its deal with Starlink in 2022.

The first-ever Starlink-equipped aircraft was from Qatar Airways, which took flight in October 2024. 'We are thrilled to launch our first Starlink-equipped flight, proving once again why Qatar Airways is at the forefront of the aviation industry,' CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said.
