According to Swimming World Magazine, McLaughlin was the seventh-ranked recruit in the class of 2015.
Katie broke the national high school record in the 100-yard fly.
She started her professional career at the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, where she won a bronze medal in the 200m butterfly.
Furthermore, she went on to win a gold medal in the 4*200 m freestyle relay and a silver medal in the 4*100 m mixed medley relay for the United States at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships.
Katie qualified for the Olympic team by finishing fourth in the 200m freestyle in the US Olympic Swimming Trials in 2021.
