Cameron Burrell was an American male sprinter. He is best known as America’s fastest college athlete as he had won NCAA Division I Championships, both individual and group races.

Cameron was 3x NCAA All-American in multiple events and had an NCAA record in the 4x100m relay. He was sponsored by some of the top-notch companies Nike and Redbull until his death.

Cameron Burrell was born to his athletic parents, Leroy Burrell And Michelle Finn-Burrell. His father, Leroy, is the former Olympic gold medalist and former 100 meters world record holder.

Moreover, his mother, Michelle, is also an Olympic gold medalist. It is for sure that he got inspire by his parents to take up sports as a part of his career.

However, he had formerly stated that his parents never forced him to follow in their footsteps; rather, it was he who was drawn to sports. 

Aside from his parents, his aunt Dawn Burrell is also the 2001 World Indoor Champion in the Long Jump.

In addition to this, his godfather and his father’s teammate and a close friend is Carl Lewis, who also supported Cameron’s athletic choices.

Sadly, Cameron passed away, leaving behind his family’s wish of him being the top sprinter.

The Burrell has said that they are ‘grief-stricken’ and ‘going through profound sorrow’ right now, per Daily Mail UK.

Cameron Burrell died on Monday, August 9, in a parking garage. However, the precise details on the cause of his death have not been released to the public as of today.

According to the medical records, it has been indicated that he died in a parking lot, but it has not put forward any further details to the unforeseen tragedy.
