Bill Roache And Anne Reid are the iconic onscreen couple from the 60s. They played husband and wife in one of the longest-running ITV shows, ‘Coronation Street.’ However, after 8 years of being there for one another onscreen as a couple and offscreen as friends, Anne decided to quit.

The pair was loved so much that fans still ship them after 50 years of them appearing in the show. Anne’s character Valerie was killed off and the storyline had a twist where she passes away due to a faulty hairdryer.

Reid gave an explanation saying that she was desperate to leave the show because she thought that her creative boundaries were limited. The actress knew her plus point was comedy and in no way Valerie would allow her that.

Her leaving the show made Bill extremely sad as mentioned by the actor himself. Now, as they are reuniting after more than 5 decades, fans cannot keep calm. Both of them are excited to see each other as well.

Bill Roache and Anne Reid were never married in real life. They have been good friends since the very beginning of their careers and both of them want the best for one another but this friendship could never turn romantic.

As Bill turns 90 this year Anne turns 87 years old. Having seen each other’s highs and lows, they have been silent supporters of one another, be it in their professional life or personal.

When it comes to their respective partners, Bill has been married twice and Anne was married once. Reid happened to lose her husband Peter and never got married again, whereas Roache tied the knot with  Anna Cropper whom he divorced in 1974, and again got with Sarah Roache whom he divorced in 2009.
