What Is Sybil Danning’s Net Worth?
Sybil Danning, an Austrian actress and producer, boasts an estimated net worth of $2 million, with her claim to fame rooted in a variety of European ‘B’ movies, cult classics, science fiction, and action films. Her journey began in Salzburg, where she studied at the Buchner School of Cosmetology, earning a diploma in facial treatment, makeup, manicure, and body massage. This foundation launched her into a modeling career, which included fashion shows and photo layouts. In 1978, Danning took a bold leap, moving to Hollywood, California, to pursue her acting dreams. Arriving without a contract or agent, her perseverance soon paid off with guest roles in popular TV series like “Vega$” (1978), “Simon & Simon” (1981), “V” (1984), and “The Fall Guy” (1981). Over her career, Danning has amassed over 80 acting credits, including roles in “Bluebeard” (1972), “The Three Musketeers” (1973), and “Chained Heat” (1983). Her performance in “Battle Beyond the Stars” earned her a Saturn Award for Outstanding Achievement in 1981.
In August 1983, Danning gained additional notoriety with a ten-page spread in Playboy magazine. Beyond acting, she has also ventured into producing, contributing to several films, and wrote the story for “L.A. Bounty” in 1989. After a hiatus from acting, she made a notable return in 2007, portraying a Nazi villainess in the “Werewolf Women of the SS” trailer for “Grindhouse” and a nurse in Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” remake. Between 2002 and 2003, Danning broke new ground as a shareholder in Germany’s SC Riessersee ice hockey team, becoming the first female co-owner of a German hockey club. Her contributions included recruiting three American players, which helped propel the team to a Vice Championship.
Early Life
Born Sybille Johanna Danninger on May 24 in Wels, Austria, her birth year is disputed, with sources citing 1947, 1950, or 1952. Her American father, a military man, eventually moved the family to New Jersey and California. After completing her education, Danning returned to Austria, where she studied cosmetology and worked as a nurse. A stint in a clothing store led to modeling and subsequently acting opportunities.
Career
Danning’s screen career began with soft-core erotic films like the German-Italian “Komm nur, mein liebstes Vögelein,” and she further gained attention in the 1971 sexploitation film “Housewives Report.” Her role alongside Raquel Welch and Richard Burton in 1972’s “Bluebeard” marked a significant career milestone. She followed this with appearances in “The Red Queen Kills Seven Times” and “The Three Musketeers” (1973), the latter receiving a Golden Globe nomination for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. Her filmography continued to grow in the late 70s and 80s, with roles in “God’s Gun,” “Whispering Death,” “The Twist,” and as a Valkyrie warrior in 1980’s “Battle Beyond the Stars.” Her appearances in the mid-80s included “They’re Playing with Fire” (1984), “Jungle Warriors” (1984), and “Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf” (1985).
Though Danning announced her retirement in 1986, she made a triumphant return in 2007 with the film “Jump!” starring Patrick Swayze, and took part in Rob Zombie’s “Grindhouse” trailer and “Halloween” remake. Her later roles included a recurring character on the vampire series “The Lair” and a part in the 2010 horror film “Virus X.” Danning’s production credits include “Operation Thunderbolt” (1977) and “To End All Wars” (2001).
