Lenny took to the water at an early age, learning to windsurf when he was six and surf when he was seven. At nine years old, he learned to kite surf. Lenny won his first title at the age of 13.

Lenny had his career breakthrough in 2012 when he won the Hawaii Island Finals SUP Pro and the Sunset Beach SUP Pro. Concluding the season, he won the finals of the inaugural Standup World Series championship. Lenny went on to have an incredibly successful year in 2013, winning numerous titles. In addition to claiming the Vice KSP Kiting World Championship, he won the SUP Wave World Championship and his second consecutive Standup World Series finals. Lenny was named the 2013 SUP Overall World Champion.
