Early Life and Education
Born Nathaniel Stroman on May 29, 1963, in Washington, DC, he earned the nickname Earthquake from his mother, who humorously likened his unplanned birth to a “natural disaster.” After finishing his studies at Ballou High School, he promptly joined the United States Air Force, seeking independence from his family home.
Stand-up Comedy

In the early 1990s, he began showcasing his talent in small venues and eventually bought the Uptown Comedy Corner in Atlanta, Georgia, where he featured top-tier stand-up comedians. He later launched his own venue, Earthquake’s Comedy Corner II. His national fame grew in 1997 when he became part of Russell Simmons’s Def Comedy Jam Tour. By 2002, he joined the Latham Entertainment Presents Comedy Tour, and he continued touring and starring in multiple television comedy specials. In 2005, he was featured in a half-hour segment for HBO’s revived series “One Night Stand,” and in 2007, he appeared on “All Star Def Comedy Jam.” His first Netflix comedy special, produced by Dave Chappelle, debuted in early 2022.
