Jussie Smollett believes he went to jail because he is Black.

The Empire star allegedly told his defense team before sentencing that he expected to be given jail time due to the color of his skin, sources told TMZ.

The judge sentenced Smollett to 5 months in county jail and 30 months of probation. He must also pay the city of Chicago $120,000 in restitution and a $25,000 fine for staging a hate crime.
