Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani was born in Aden on April 19, 1957, to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani. He has two sisters, Nina Bhadrashyam Kothari and Dipti Dattaraj Salgaocar, and a younger brother, Anil Ambani.

Dhirubhai Ambani returned to India in 1958 to launch a spice and textile trading business. Mukesh Ambani spent a year in Yemen.
Mukesh Ambani resided in a two-bedroom apartment in Mumbai’s Bhuleshwar till the 1970s. According to Jagranjosh, Mukesh Ambani’s father bought a 14-story apartment building in Colaba called ‘Sea Wind’ after the family’s financial situation improved after a few years.

Mr. Mukesh Ambani led the development of the world’s largest grassroots petroleum refinery, with a capacity of 660,000 barrels per day (33 million tonnes per year), in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India, in the late 1990s, and integrated it with petrochemicals, power generation, port, and related infrastructure.
He also oversaw the construction of a second refinery in Jamnagar, capable of producing 580,000 barrels per day.Jamnagar has become the world’s refining hub, with a combined refining capacity of 1.24 million barrels of oil per day at a single location.
