The singer and fashion mogul is in the final stretch of her pregnancy, and along with her partner, A$AP Rocky, has been preparing for this next stage of her life. In a recent interview with Vogue, Rihanna opened up about her plans once the baby arrives, admitting that while she has a night nurse on hold, she fully expects her mother to butt heads with the nurse over the privilege of putting the baby to bed.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky announced their pregnancy in January 2022, taking to Instagram to share a sweet photo series that featured the rapper affectionately cuddling Rihanna’s blooming baby bump. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were first connected romantically in early 2021, and while the two remained low-key about their relationship, reports swirled that the two were very much in love.

While Rihanna has been very focused on her career, to those that love her, it’s no surprise that she’s excited about her pregnancy. In the Vogue feature story, Rihanna’s childhood best friend Sonita Alexander opened up about how Rihanna supported her during her pregnancy. “She made time for me when I was having my baby,” Alexander said. “The baby was sick, so she came back three weeks later and was supportive the whole time. I would say it was the most important moment in our friendship.”

What did Rihanna say about hiring a night nurse?

In her Vogue interview, Rihanna opened up about how she’s planning to handle childcare, once her maternity leave is over. She revealed that her mother and A$AP Rocky’s mother are both eager to get involved, but that she’s also put a night nurse on hold. “I’m sure that will be helpful, but they’re going to have to fight my mom, because I can’t imagine anyone telling her how to put her grandkid to bed,” Rihanna joked.

Of course, with her busy schedule, it’s not a stretch to imagine that Rihanna will have to struggle to find balance as a new mom. After all, she’s in charge of a beauty company, a lingerie business, and a wildly successful music career. “Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been,” Rihanna told Vogue. “And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again.” Still, she’s confident that she can make it work, telling the publication that she can “absolutely” handle the challenge.

Although Rihanna is a world traveler and operates her businesses all over the United States and abroad, her home country of Barbados has a special place in her heart. Even A$AP Rocky has a special connection to Barbados, with several of his family members living there. Rumors have even swirled that Rihanna actually plans to give birth at her mansion in Barbados.

Still, Rihanna told Vogue that she’s not entirely sure where she will raise her new addition. “Rocky asked me recently if I had a dream place, where would it be? I told him home, Barbados,” Rihanna mused. “I always imagined it being that way. But realistically it probably won’t be.” Certainly, fans will be watching eagerly as Rihanna’s motherhood journey unfolds.
