Candice Glover Wiki Biography

Candice Rickelle Glover, born on 22 November 1989 in Beaufort, South Carolina USA, to mother Carole and father John, is an American singer, actress and songwriter who rose to fame as the winner of the 12th season of the popular singing competition “American Idol”. The first female winner after Jordin Sparks won in 2007, Glover is the fourth African-American winner in the history of the show.

Not all “American Idol” winners have gone on to massive fame and fortune, however, the show’s twelfth winner definitely has. So just how rich is Candice Glover? It has been estimated that her performance with the show in 2013 has so far brought her to a net worth of over $1 million.

Glover began singing in her church, where her father was a pastor. She attended St Helena Elementary School and then the Beaufort High School, graduating in 2008. During her school years, Glover had weight issues, which made her insecure and in need of counseling, but the singer went on to attend the Technical College of the Lowcountry and University of South Carolina, Beaufort. Before the “American Idol” show, she worked at the Fripp Island Resort as an excursions coordinator.

Glover first auditioned for “American Idol” in Charlotte, North Carolina, during the show’s ninth season. However, judge Simon Cowell made a comment saying that he could not see her being anything more than a lounge singer, and she was eliminated in the final 70 round. She then auditioned again in Savannah, Georgia during the show’s eleventh season, receiving a standing ovation from the judges for her performance “Someone like You” by Adele. She made it to Hollywood but was eliminated after the Group round, after her performance of “It Doesn’t Matter Anymore” by Buddy Holly. Glover decided to give it one last shot and auditioned again in 2012, for the show’s twelfth season. During her third audition she performed “Syrup and Honey” by Duffy, receiving a standing ovation again, and was told that she was the best performer since the competition had started. She made it to Hollywood and then advanced to Las Vegas, where she performed Aretha Franklin’s “Natural Woman”, John Legend’s “Ordinary People”, Ben E. King’s “I (Who Have Nothing)” and with The Cure’s “Lovesong” she broke into tears after earning high praise and a standing ovation, as this was called the best performance in the show’s history. On 16 May, Glover was announced as the winner of the contest.

Her debut album “Music Speaks” was available for pre-order the same day, along with her debut single “I Am Beautiful”, which she later performed on multiple talk shows and which added considerably to her net worth. Glover toured as part of the “American idols LIVE! Tour 2013” and released a second single “Cried” the same year. Her debut album “Music Speaks” was released on February 18, 2014, after being pushed back from the original July 16 and October 8, 2013 dates. Of course, her net worth significantly intensified. She has been busy working on her second album since.

Glover has been performing in several charity events and concerts. As for her personal life, she is very private and refuses to reveal anything of her relationships.
