Born Jason Crawford on the 4th July 1965, in Sandusky, Ohio USA, Jay is a sportscaster and journalist best known to the world for being the host of “First Take” from 2007 to 2012 on ESPN, and as the anchor of “SportsCenter” from 2012 to the present, also on ESPN.

Jay grew up in his hometown and attended Perkins High School. He matriculated in 1983 and then enrolled at Bowling Green State University, from where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Radio, Television, and Film four years later.

Soon after he obtained his degree, Jay found his first job at local Hazard, Kentucky TV station WYMT-TV. Then in 1993 he joined WBNS-TV in Columbus Ohio, as its sports director, and served in the position for the next five years, which not only increased his net worth, but also gained him highly needed experience for furthering his career. In 1998 he joined WFTS-TV based in Tampa, Florida, from where he joined ESPN. He began by co-hosting “Cold Pizza” with Kit Hoover, and stayed on the show until its cancellation in 2007, and was then appointed as host of Cold Pizza’s successor “First Take”. Co-joined by Dana Jacobson, the two were supported by analyst Skip Bayless. However, Jay left the show in 2012 to join Chris Mckendry as co-anchor of “SportsCenter”. He replaced John Buccigross, as he was moved to 11:00 PM, while Jay and Chris continued anchoring from noon to 3:00 pm Est slot. He stayed in the position until 2017, when he was laid off from ESPN, due to employment cuts conducted by the network.

Regarding his personal life, Jay has been married to Tracy since 1987; the couple has two children together.
