Joe Spano Wiki Biography

Joseph Peter Spano was born on 7 July 1946, in San Francisco, California USA, and is an actor, best known for his role in “Hill Street Blues” in the 1980s playing Lt. Henry Goldblume, which earned him a lot of popularity. He is also known for his work on “NCIS” as FBI Special Agent Tobias C. Fornell, but all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Joe Spano? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $2 million, mostly earned through a successful career in acting. He also has stage acting credits, and as he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

Joe started his career as a member of the improv group The Wing, based in San Francisco. During college, he appeared in a production of “Romeo and Juliet” playing Paris. In 1968, he helped found the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, appeared in the theatre group’s first production, and would stay with the company for 10 years. In the late 1970s, he decided to move to Hollywood, and started with small roles in “American Graffiti” and “The Enforcer”.

One of his most notable roles would be when he was cast in “Hill Street Blues”, in which he played Henry Goldblume for the entire seven year run of the series from 1981. After the show ended, he was then given recurring roles in “NYPD Blue” as well as “Murder One”, subsequently often appearing as a detective, but his net worth continued to build up. He appeared in many television movies and series, with some of his projects including “The X-Files”, “Mercy Point” and “Amazing Grace”, and appeared as a guest in an episode of “Midnight Caller” for which he won an Emmy Award for Best Guest Actor in a Drama Series. He was then cast in feature films which helped his net worth rise further. He worked with Tom Hanks in “Apollo 13”, and was also cast in “Primal Fear” alongside Edward Norton.

While doing all of these projects, he appeared on stage too, on both the east and west coasts. Some of the productions he was a part of include “The Price”, “Speed-the-Plow”, “The Devil’s Disciple”, and “Waiting for Godot”. He became a member of several theatre companies, and also still appeared in the television movie “Brotherhood of Justice”, alongside Keanu Reeves.

Spano has since become known as a recurring character in “NCIS”, even at times having the same screen time as the main lead, so his character has been through a lot of impacting storylines in the show, as he’s been part of the show since the first episode of the first season in 2003, which continues to the present day.

For his personal life, it is known that Joe married therapist Joan Zerrien in 1980; they have two adopted daughters.

Quote
1 The real hopeful thing about theater and the arts in general is you take these painful experiences and you shape them, give them form — and people can experience them together. You come out of an experience like this not devastated, not demolished by it, but hopefully healed or having experienced a catharsis.
